MISSION and PHILOSOPHY

Our church views children as a precious resource, given by God, and acknowledges its responsibility to assist families in providing for their children’s nurture and care. Our Early Education Center (EEC) provides a safe and caring Christian environment for children of the congregation and the community.

St. Luke’s EEC is committed to providing developmentally appropriate activities for all ages to enhance each child’s learning experiences. Our Center is in compliance with all of the health and safety regulations required by the State of Missouri and is a member of the Christian Early Childhood Association of Greater Kansas City. Our programs have served the community since 1977.

St. Luke’s Early Education programs are open to all children regardless of race, color, or creed. All children are accepted on a trial basis.

At St. Luke’s we provide:

  • Loving Christian Atmosphere
  • State Approved Facility
  • Experienced Teachers

GOALS

Our program objective is to help children develop a good self-image and to nurture them in reaching their potential through an environment which supports growth of the whole child through:

  1. Individual attention
  2. Fostering self-esteem, self-discipline, sharing
  3. Encouraging positive relationships
  4. Finding acceptable outlets for their emotions
  5. Creativity, exploration, fun in learning
  6. Encouraging respect
  7. Physical activities
  8. Stimulating academic experiences
  9. Presenting Christian values

We encourage the children to make good decisions, exercise self-discipline, learn with enthusiasm and communicate well with others. These children have strong foundations for being productive and happy adults. St. Luke’s works cooperatively with area kindergartens to plan a curriculum that prepares children to enjoy learning.

CURRICULUM

All children who are enrolled in the Sunshine and Rainbow Rooms for full-time care will attend our Preschool during the school year at no extra charge. The Preschool is located in the Undercroft (basement) area of the church and is open Monday through Thursday mornings from 8:45 to 11:45am. Friday mornings for full-time children will be “Imagination Day” with fun and exciting activities planned.

Our Preschool curriculum provides experiences in weekly themes such as Christian seasons and holidays, transportation, nature, music, animals, community workers and many more. Three year-olds work on socialization skills, following directions, fine motor skills, colors, shapes, numbers, etc. The Pre-Kindergarten class adds emphasis on alphabet, phonics and specific preparation for kindergarten.
